Section 3's Biggest Day - The Drama

This reflective journal is based on my experience gathered throughout the lesson I had valued for being the Class Representative & Director for the third section in Diploma in Business. The journey all started with one big simple request from our two proud English & Microeconomics lecturers, Mr. Chandra & Puan Rabi'ah. That compulsory request was to get a class of 22 people to work on our first ever class assignment "The Drama" based on consumer's reaction to price changes. As we are in the very first semester of our course with Taylor's University, basically we all were very new to each other. Now that had gave us a fresh opportunity to get along and to work with new the people we come to meet.

On one unexpected day through the middle of the course, the previous director/class representative of our class of the third section suddenly quitted the whole program. I was the asst. class rep at that time and after we got the news of the class rep, instantaneously I was promoted to being the class rep & director for the drama. The progress of the class assignment was actually in the middle of formation. During that time I realized what the ex-class rep had missed out crucially and left back for us to fix is the solid relationship among each other of the third section. The biggest challenge for me was the unity of the class as the countless conflicts have been pushed really hard since the starting of drama's progress. That is the one moment when it had ignited me as the leader of the class of my problem solving & communication skills, creativity was an extra. Since that day a lot have been changed to revamp yet again the whole idea for the drama.

The team wasn't really that hard to reunited when I got the chance to really understand & get along with the personalities they all convey. This had paved the way for me to an exploration of a new beginning like a dark valley yet to be explored. During the time I spent to work with the great people, the hardest for them was to give out the true expression kept within them, for the play is a real challenge for everybody as they were pretty tied up with individuality. But in the end they all stepped out of their comfort zones to show just who they can really become & to show how far they can accomplish. That has proved the very foundation that built the team.

Finally the arrival of big day, the team and I have been all prep-up and ready for our last rehearsal when the impending chaos strikes. The props for our drama that we have been working on for days had been mistakenly thrown away from us. The members who gave up their efforts into making all those even broke into tears for some of them. I had to empower myself to motivate them when they are faced with these hard obstacles and to show them there would always be a better way.

The overall experience I am proud to say that it has been a pleasure to work with the people who were once unknown to each other and what had impressed me the most was just how they all worked out the problems they faced like a big united family. Even they gave a name to the section namely #TeamJohn "A great leader produce a great follower".

I appreciate the effortless support the team gave to me and I hope to look forward to manage out a class assignment yet again.

I grab this opportunity to thank our two lecturers for their encouraging efforts to support the team to make it to that day and to my fellow classmates. This is start of the new university experience and of course there are lots more to be expressed, but the one thing I had really learnt is the many mistakes we had come to faced are there to provide us room for better and greater improvements which serves as the largest gap between the ultimate failure and the sweetest success.
